This pack contains twelve fully marked Hurricane MkIIb skins of aircraft operated by No. 486 (NZ) Squadron in 1942 as night fighters working in conjunction with the
Douglas Bostons of 1453 Turbinlite Flight. Ironically the only victory the squadron had at this time (its first one) was scored without the use of a Turbinlite Boston.
Note that the stencilling is completely missing on these skins, which is on purpose as these aircraft were all repainted with black at unit level and as such the
stencils do not seems to have been restored. Photos from this period of the squadron's history are rare so only two of the skins are based totally on photographic evidence
(SA-M and SA-J), however there are enough to know that the aircraft were quite uniform in their appearance and so combined with the documented serial numbers and individual
aircraft letters I am quite confident the remaining ten skins are close to historical.

The only victory achieved by the squadron while flying these Hurricanes was scored by Flight Lieutenant Harvey Sweetman (B Flight commander) flying SA-R (Z3029).
On the night of 23rd/24th July 1942 he was scrambled alone for local patrol and airfield defence, and after spotting the silhouetted shape of a bomber he attacked,
firing three bursts into it from close range. The bomber, a Do217-E4 of 5/KG40 on a mission to bomb Bristol, went down with the crew of four bailing out and becoming
prisoners.

A Beaufighter crew from No. 409 (RCAF) Squadron also claimed a Do217 so Sweetman's claim was reduced to a half share, although later investigation and research indicated
that the Canadian crew likely attacked and downed a different Do217.

When using these skins please enable the following options for historic accuracy:

- Four additional "Browning .303" MGs
- Merlin XX engine with +14lb boost
- Mirror

Happy flying!
